Hike for Plenty April 6th 2019
Hike for Plenty is Edmonton Area's city-wide food bank drive in support of the Edmonton Food Bank held each spring. This year's event is being held on Saturday, April 6th. Our goal this year is to increase member participation and to exceed last year's total food collected of 7474 kg. As is tradition, the Edmonton Food Bank will provide trucks at four locations throughout the city for units to drop their donations. If you are not able to make it during these times, please feel free to deliver your donations directly to the Edmonton Food Bank. Please ensure you mention your donation is part of Hike for Plenty so that you are included in our final tally. A reminder that participation in Hike for Plenty does not need to be limited to collecting food on Saturday, April 6th. Perhaps your unit can hold a Food Bank themed meeting, the first week of April, or collect food, not dues leading up to April 6th.
All locations will be open from 11:30am – 2:30pm.
Oscar Romero High School - 17760 - 69th Avenue NW
Mill Woods Town Centre - 2331 - 66th Street

Broadway Across Canada
Broadway Across Canada is thrilled to announce the four musical productions coming to the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium as part of our exciting 2019/2020 season!
2019/2020 will be a ‘season of love’, with the Tony Award-winning musical RENT rocking out in September, followed by WAITRESS making its delectable Canadian debut in November. Winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Musical, DEAR EVAN HANSEN will also be visiting Canada. Finishing off the season with our season option, WICKED the untold true story of the Witches of Oz.
Please find below the descriptions and dates to the full 2019/2020 Broadway Across Canada season line-up:
RENT – September 3 – 8, 2019
In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre.
Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production.
A re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity reminds us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.
WAITRESS – November 26 – December 1, 2019
Inspired by the beloved film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker who dreams of a way out of her small town. A baking contest and the town’s new doctor may offer her a fresh start, but Jenna must summon the strength to rebuild her own life. Don’t miss this uplifting celebration of friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN – February 11 – 16, 2020
A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN has struck a remarkable chord with audiences and critics everywhere, including The Washington Post who says DEAR EVAN HANSEN is “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theatre history.” The New York Times calls it “a gut-punching, breathtaking knockout of a musical.” And NBC Nightly News declares the musical “an anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond.”
DEAR EVAN HANSEN features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy®, Tony® and Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).
WICKED – August 12 – 22, 2020
WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”
From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story that USA Todaycheers is “a complete triumph! An original musical that will make you laugh, cry, and think.”
